About Robert White
Robert White’s life story is a remarkable blend of rugged experience, medical excellence, and community leadership—all anchored in the beautiful town of St. Helena, California. Born in Vancouver, Canada, Robert’s early connection to nature and adventure shaped his character from the beginning. Yet it was the sun-drenched vineyards of Napa Valley where his life took root and flourished.
As a teenager, Robert relocated to Napa Valley, immersing himself in the beauty and values of the region. Before heading to college, he chose a bold path—working on oil rigs in the Arctic and logging camps in remote regions. These early experiences were challenging and formative, instilling in him resilience, discipline, and a relentless drive to make a difference.
Robert pursued higher education at Pacific Union College in the peaceful town of Angwin, located in the hills above Napa Valley. It was here that he met Celeste Keith, his future wife and lifelong partner. Their love story began in these quiet surroundings and led to their marriage in St. Helena—an event that marked the beginning of a strong and faithful partnership that has lasted more than four decades.
After college, Robert entered the wine industry, working with Stags Leap Wine Cellars and living on a vineyard near St. Helena. While the work was rewarding, his true calling lay elsewhere. Fueled by a desire to serve, Robert made the life-changing decision to study medicine. He completed medical school and then underwent intensive training in General and Trauma Surgery at San Joaquin General Hospital and the University of California, Davis.
Returning to the Napa region as a trauma surgeon, Robert joined Queen of the Valley Hospital, where he helped establish a certified trauma program under the American College of Surgeons. His leadership was instrumental in raising the standard of emergency care for the community. Later, as Director of Surgery at Providence, Robert helped lead the development of a new Level II trauma center at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in collaboration with Dr. Brian Schmidt.
Robert’s commitment to mentorship and education is a consistent theme throughout his career. He has trained medical students, guided surgery residents, and led mission programs abroad, ensuring that his expertise is passed on to the next generation of healthcare professionals. Even after stepping down from his administrative role, he continues to serve actively as a trauma surgeon and mentor.
Beyond the hospital, Robert has worked alongside his father-in-law on real estate development projects and dedicated his time to philanthropic work—especially in the areas of addiction prevention and youth mentorship. He has been involved with faith-based programs and the Salvation Army, as well as local sports coaching, always seeking ways to uplift and empower others.
